Northwestern jumps to No. 12 in both AP and Coaches Poll

New, comments

It's the Wildcats' highest ranking since 2000.

Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports

Northwestern moved up one more spot in both the Coaches Poll and AP Poll this week, rising from No. 13 last week to No. 12 this week.

The Wildcats were inactive as it was Championship Week around the nation, but moved up one spot thanks to Baylor falling to lowly Texas.

Although these polls don't matter for much — bowl selection isn't determined by these polls — this is the highest the Wildcats have been ranked in both polls all season.

The last time Northwestern was this high in the AP Poll was Week 11 of the 2000 season. NU won a share of the Big Ten title that season.
