Northwestern will be a 10 seed in the upcoming Big Ten Tournament at the United Center in Chicago. The Wildcats finished 6-12 in conference play, tied for 10th in the league with Minnesota, but own the tiebreaker thanks to their head-to-head win against the Gophers in Minneapolis.
Getting the 10 seed means NU will get a bye and will not have to play on Wednesday, the first day of the tournament. Instead, the Wildcats will open on Thursday against seven seed Indiana at 5:30 CT on ESPN2. The Wildcats won their only meeting with the Hoosiers this year at Welsh-Ryan Arena, and while NU has been on a roll heading into the Big Ten Tournament, finishing the season 5-2, Tom Crean's team has gone 2-5 in that same stretch. A loss to NU would likely keep Indiana out of the NCAA Tournament.
If NU beats Indiana, the Wildcats would face two seed Maryland, who they nearly beat on the road earlier this season. Overall, it's a very favorable draw for NU. Here's the full bracket below.
