Northwestern added another piece to its non-conference schedule next season, announcing that it will travel to Blacksburg, Virginia, to play Virginia Tech in this year's installment of the Big Ten-ACC Challenge. The Hokies are undergoing a rebuilding project similar to Northwestern under second-year coach Buzz Williams.

This game will be particularly interesting for NU graduate transfer Joey Van Zegeren, who played for Virginia Tech for three years and was on the team just last season. Williams likely won't be happy about that, but it should give the Wildcats a bit of an advantage.
NU has lost its last three Big Ten-ACC Challenge games — at home against Maryland and Georgia Tech, and at NC State. The Wildcats will be looking for their first win in the series of the Chris Collins era and their first win since beating Georgia Tech on the road in 2011.
