A year after the Welsh-Ryan Arena court ditched the old stained purple look in favor of a fresh new look, Northwestern is updating the practice floor too. The practice court is adjacent to the main arena, but this past year, it retained that old watercolor purple design.
The floor is almost complete, with only finishing touches remaining.
One of those finishing touches is to install the new restricted area, which, due to a rule change, has been moved out from 3 feet to 4 feet. The rule change just happened to coincide with the painting of the new court.
Willing to bet that Northwestern has the first floor in the country with the new 4-foot arch in the lane. pic.twitter.com/wQC9ES2omS— Nick Brilowski (@NickBrilowski) June 9, 2015
