Justin Jackson named to Maxwell Award Watch List

This is the third straight year a Wildcat running back has been named to the preseason list.

Northwestern sophomore running back Justin Jackson has been named to the 2015 Maxwell Award Watch List. He is one of 12 Big Ten players and 80 Division I players overall to be named to the list.

The award is presented annually by the Maxwell Football Club to the best college player in the nation. It is generally considered the second most prestigious college football award after the Heisman Trophy. 2015 will be the 79th year that the award has been handed out.

This year marks the third straight year that a Northwestern player — a Northwestern running back — has been named to the Watch List. Venric Mark was on the list in 2013 after his standout 2012 campaign, and then after injury curtailed his 2013 season, he was placed on the list again prior to 2014. Mark ended up transferring prior to the 2014 season.
