Northwestern rises to No. 19 in Week 4 USA Today Coaches Poll

Northwestern's road win at Duke plus a Stanford upset at USC puts the Wildcats inside the top 20

The Week 4 Amway Coaches Poll was released mid-day Sunday, and Northwestern has jumped from No. 24 last week up to No. 19 this week.

The Wildcats defeated Duke 19-10 in Durham yesterday. Their five-spot jump is tied for the second-biggest in the poll with LSU. Ole Miss, who jumped six spots to No. 9 after beating Alabama, had the biggest jump.

Also working in Northwestern's favor was Stanford's impressive win at USC last night. Stanford, who jumped to No. 24 in this week's poll after being unranked last week, lost to Northwestern in Week 1, 16-6.

Northwestern is the third-highest ranked Big Ten team in the poll behind Ohio State, who remains No. 1 despite an unimpressive win over Northern Illinois, and Michigan State, who moves up to No. 3 after defeating Air Force. Behind Northwestern is Wisconsin at No. 21.
