Northwestern injury report: Cameron Dickerson, Greg Kuhar out vs. Stanford

Northwestern senior wide receiver Cameron Dickerson has been ruled out for Saturday's season opener against Stanford.

Northwestern released its injury report Thursday evening for Saturday morning's game, and Dickerson was the one surprise.

Greg Kuhar, who tore his ACL against Notre Dame last Novemeber and has been rehabing ever since surgery, is also out. Kuhar was not listed on the official depth chart that was released Monday. Kuhar was thought of as probable or better at the start of camp, but has seemingly lost the race against time to be ready for the opener.

Starting in Kuhar's place will likely be sophomore Tyler Lancaster. Redshirt freshman Ben Oxley and true freshman Jordan Thompson could see the field plenty as well. Max Chapman will also be in the rotation at defensive tackle.

Matt Frazier is out indefinitely after a staph infection over the summer as well. There is still no timetable for his return.

Dickerson's absence could pave the way for a number of wide receivers to see an increased role. Macan Wilson was listed as the backup behind Dickerson on Monday's depth chart. Austin Carr was listed as the backup to Miles Shuler at the other outside receiver position.

Expect a deep rotation at receiver, however. True freshmen Flynn Nagel and Jelani Roberts could be thrust into action right away. Both Nagel and Roberts are more comfortable in the slot, though. Pierre Youngblood-Ary and Mike McHugh could be in the mix for playing time as well despite not being listed on Monday's depth chart.
