Northwestern women's basketball drops out of the week 10 AP poll

The Wildcats are unranked for the time this season

Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports

For the first time all season Northwestern women's basketball is not ranked in the AP poll, although they did still receive 58 votes.

This considerable drop comes after Northwestern's first losing streak of the season, as they lost to an unranked Purdue team at home and No. 23 Michigan State in East Lansing. Neither game was very close. This comes a week after Northwestern dropped two spots to No. 16 following a loss to Penn State. Northwestern has been ranked ever since coming in at No. 19 in the AP preseason poll, but have lost three out of their last four games. Their 58 votes is the most of any unranked team putting them unofficially at No. 26.

It's not going to get any easier for the Wildcats as both of their opponents this week remain in the top ten following undefeated weeks. Ohio State remained at No. 5 and Maryland at No. 8. Northwestern welcomes Ohio State to Welsh Ryan on Thursday night.
