Northwestern women’s basketball remains unranked in the AP Poll despite an upset victory against No. 7 Ohio State this week.
The Wildcats received 46 votes, which is 12 fewer than last week's total. Although Northwestern beat a ranked team in Ohio State, the team also lost to No. 5 Maryland on the road. Northwestern was unofficially No. 27 in the poll, one vote behind Purdue. Northwestern had been ranked in the poll prior to a two-game slide in Big Ten play last week. However, the voters determined that Northwestern had somehow gotten worse after defeating a ranked opponent.
Northwestern will play at Minnesota on Jan. 20 and host Indiana on Jan. 24. Neither upcoming opponent received a vote in the AP Poll.
