Northwestern has the chance to start off a tough stretch of four games with a statement win tonight against Maryland at the Xfinity Center. The Wildcats got beaten down early against the Terrapins at Welsh-Ryan just over two weeks ago in a 72-59 loss.
Since the loss, the Wildcats have gone 2-2 in conference play, losing to Ohio State before beating Minnesota and Wisconsin. Chris Collins's team lost its most recent game, however, in a major letdown to Penn State at Welsh-Ryan.
For Northwestern to win, it'll have to start with containing Maryland's supremely talented backcourt of Melo Trimble (24 points in the last meeting) and Rasheed Sulaimon (16 points). Even then, the Wildcats still have to deal with Jake Layman, Diamond Stone, Robert Carter and a host of other players that can score the ball. Additionally, Northwestern will need to overcome an always-raucous Xfinity Center crowd.
