Sitting in the visitors press room, you could hear the celebratory yelps. Chris Collins and a few of his players had finally made it back to their locker room, and Northwestern erupted. That was the scene two years ago at Assembly Hall when Northwestern upset Indiana. Tre Demps hit clutch shot after clutch shot to lead the Wildcats to a 54-47 victory. It was first year head coach Chris Collins' first ever Big Ten road win.
Both teams have evolved since then, but when the Wildcats take the court Saturday (11 a.m. CT, ESPN2) in Bloomington, their respective roles will be similar. Northwestern is a 9-point underdog against the Hoosiers, who currently sit atop the Big Ten, tied with Iowa at 6-0 in conference play.
