Football is in the air this morning as the Northwestern Wildcats (3-3, 2-1 Big Ten) host the Indiana Hoosiers (3-3, 1-2 Big Ten) in a key matchup. It's homecoming in Evanston, and the Wildcats are hoping to build off their two most recent wins, both on the road versus Iowa and Michigan State.
Indiana sports a much-improved defense this year under the direction of new defensive coordinator Tom Allen. But the Hoosiers have struggled offensively at times, especially in the last couple of games, both losses (to Ohio State and Wisconsin).
For Northwestern to be successful, the team will have to run the ball early with Justin Jackson, as it has done the past two weeks, and hope to then find balance throwing the ball.
Defensively, the Wildcats will be challenged by an efficient Indiana passing attack that can stretch the field. The best way to limit the attack may be to get consistent pressure on Richard Lagow. Big games for Ifeadi Odenigbo and co. will certainly help the Wildcats' cause.
