The Legends Classic tipped off at the Barclays Center -- home of the Brooklyn Nets -- earlier tonight with Notre Dame's win over Colorado, and it continues with Northwestern (2-1) against the Big 12's No. 22 Texas Longhorns (3-0).
Northwestern last played on Wednesday at Butler, losing 70-68 on a last-second Kamar Baldwin jumper over Gavin Skelly. The Wildcats -- led by Vic Law and his 17 points -- stuck right with the Bulldogs for the entire game, but couldn't execute late in the second half during their first legitimate test of the young season.
Meanwhile, Shaka Smart's Longhorns have yet to play a power conference foe, most recently crushing Eastern Washington 85-52 on Thursday. A year removed from losing to Northern Iowa in the first (or second, depending on your interpretation) round of the NCAA Tournament, Texas has to replace its entire starting lineup either due to graduation or players leaving early.
Kerwin Roach and Eric Davis Jr., who were the Longhorns' fourth- and fifth-highest scorers a season ago, now are leading the show, and both will be hard to handle for a Northwestern team that is looking for players not named Law or McIntosh to step up.
Follow along with us below as Northwestern attempts to notch a big nonconference win. The game, starting at 8:30 PM CST, will be televised on ESPN3 (or the Longhorn Network, if your cable provider offers that channel).
