Northwestern (7-2) looks to continue its strong start to the season with a win against fellow Chicagoland teams Chicago State (3-6).
The Cougars have struggled out of the gates but played Saint Louis close in their last game, ultimately falling 45-43. Tracy Dildy’s squad is ranked 337th in Kenpom and has been blown out by the likes of Wiscosnin, Oakland, Notre Dame and Bradley.
Sophomore guard Fred Sims, Jr. leads the way for the Cougars in the scoring column at 17.9 points per game. Behind him is senior Trayvon Palmer, who scores 14.4 points per game and adds in 8.8 rebounds per game, by far the best mark on the team. Joining those two in double figures is Clemmye Owens V, a Bethune-Cookman transfer now in his second season as a Cougar. Owens V averages 10.8 points per game.
For all intents and purposes, this should serve as a final tune-up for Northwestern ahead of the Wildcats’ matchup with Dayton at the United Center on Dec. 17.
