Northwestern (6-6, 5-4 Big Ten) is in the Big Apple to take on Pittsburgh (8-4, 5-3 ACC) in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium.
Pat Fitzgerald’s team survived an 0-2 start (and dropping three of its first four) to qualify for a bowl for the second straight year. The season included wins at Michigan State and Iowa and losses to Illinois State and Western Michigan. The Wildcats developed an offensive identity and were led by a team record-tying 21 passing touchdowns from Clayton Thorson, 12 of which went to Austin Carr, the Big Ten’s leading wide receiver. Running back Justin Jackson had his third straight 1,000-plus yard season on the ground.
Pittsburgh’s season is filled with impressive wins. The No. 23 Panthers knocked off Big Ten champion Penn State early in the year and ACC champion Clemson in Death Valley. QB Nathan Peterman leads the attack through the air, while running back James Conner is one of the nation’s most dynamic threats out of the backfield.
Here’s how you can watch it all unfold.
