EVANSTON — Northwestern will offer students the opportunity to reserve “complimentary” tickets for the Pinstripe Bowl, according to a University source.
An email detailing the package will go out to students Friday, Dec. 9.
Undergrads can be allotted two tickets each, which have been purchased and donated by members of the Northwestern Board of Trustees.
“We are incredibly grateful for [the Trustees’] leadership in making it easier for our Wildcats - especially those home in the northeast for the winter break - to participate in what should be an incredible gathering of the Northwestern community at iconic Yankee Stadium,” Northwestern Athletic Director Jim Phillips said in a statement.
In the days following the bowl announcement, Northwestern had not released a student-specific ticket plan and it appeared student tickets were listed for $70 on Northwestern’s website. Pittsburgh, Northwestern’s opponent, quickly offered a student package for $25 per ticket.
Along with Northwestern, Minnesota appears to be the only other Big Ten school offering its students complimentary bowl game tickets.
Northwestern plays No. 22 Pittsburgh in the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium on Dec. 28 at 2 p.m. ET.
