Former Northwestern superback Dan Vitale has been invited to the NFL Combine. Vitale was included on the NFL's official Combine invite list, which was released Thursday.
Vitale will join former Northwestern defensive end Dean Lowry, the only other Wildcat on this year's invite list, at the Combine in Indianapolis Feb. 23-29.
The superback position at Northwestern is a tight end/fullback hybrid. Vitale will be a fullback in the NFL, though he has the skill set to line up as an H-back too.
Vitale participated in the Senior Bowl in January, and had a strong week of practice. He measured in at just over 6-foot tall, and 240 pounds.
Vitale is rated as the No. 2 fullback in the 2016 draft class by CBS Sports, and is projected as a 6th-round pick. ESPN ranks Vitale as the top fullback in the class.
In four full seasons at Northwestern, Vitale caught 135 passes for 1,427 yards. He didn't miss a single game in his college career, playing in all 48 regular season games and two bowl games.
The 2016 NFL Draft takes place April 28-30 in Chicago.
