Maggie Lyon has been ruled out for Northwestern’s game today against Minnesota with a lower body injury. Lyon also missed Northwestern’s overtime win against Wisconsin. Head coach Joe McKeown declined to comment on the injury after the win against Wisconsin.
As she did yesterday, Lydia Rohde will start in Lyon’s place. The offense will have to survive without its second-highest scorer and best three-point shooter. Rohde was efficient from the field against Wisconsin, scoring 8 points and hitting two three pointers. Amber Jamison also picked up 6 points. Most of Lyon’s shots were split between Nia Coffey and Christen Inman, who will have to continue bearing a larger share of Northwestern’s offense against Minnesota.
In Northwestern’s two losses to Minnesota, Lyon scored 22 points in the first game and 31 points in Northwestern’s double overtime lost. Minnesota had trouble covering Lyon in both games. Her loss will be felt from a leadership perspective as well.
Northwestern faces off against Minnesota at around 1:30 p.m. CST on BTN.
