EVANSTON — Northwestern football held spring practice inside Trienens Hall Saturday morning, and although weather forced the program to close the practice to fans, six of our writers were able to attend. Austin Carr and Nathan Fox made the plays of the day — at least from what we saw. We then answered your questions from social media. What did we see from Solomon Vault and Marcus McShepard? How about the quarterbacks? With Matt Alviti injured, who is backing up Clayton Thorson? And how did Thorson look?
On the defensive side of the ball, there's a somewhat surprise first-teamer at linebacker. What about on the defensive line? Who is starting at tackle? Were there promising signs from Ifeadi Odenigbo and Xavier Washington? And on the back end, who looks like the nickel corner?
