Northwestern lands 2017 offensive tackle Ethan Wiederkehr

The New York native also had offers from Boston College, Louisville, Pittsburgh and more.

Three-star class of 2017 offensive tackle Ethan Wiederkehr has committed to Northwestern. Wiederkehr hails from Shoreham, New York, where he attended Shoreham-Wading River High School.

Wiederkehr's other offers included the likes of Boston College, Louisville, Pittsburgh and Syracuse. The Wildcats also beat out Big Ten foes Rutgers, Purdue and Maryland for the offensive tackle, ranked the ninth-best recruit from the state of New York by 247Sports. He has a composite rating of .8316 and is the 113th-rated offensive tackle in his class

Wiederkehr also plays defensive end, but is evaluated mostly as an offensive lineman in recruiting circles. He is the first offensive tackle in the class. According to 247Sports' composite rankings, Northwestern's recent run of recruits has skyrocketed the program to the nation's 14th-best recruiting class in the nation, good for third in the Big Ten. His commitment lands on the same day as kicker Charlie Kuhbander.
