Top Northwestern target Jordan Goodwin commits to Saint Louis

Thomas Joseph-USA TODAY Sports

Jordan Goodwin has decided to create his own legacy, but it won't be with Northwestern. The high four-star Althoff Catholic combo guard announced his commitment to SLU this afternoon.

He is considered the 48th-best player in his class, per 247.

Goodwin's commitment signifies another miss for Northwestern for the class of 2017. Chris Collins had made the in-state product's recruitment its top priority. The Wildcats were among the final suitors for Goodwin. The Belleville, Illinois native opted to stay close to home over playing with AAU teammate and five-star forward Jeremiah Tilmon at Illinois. Goodwin lives just half an hour away—a short trip on IL-161 and I-64—from St. Louis.

Northwestern missed out on Max Evans last weekend when he committed to Vanderbilt.

Collins and staff will now go all-in on guard Anthony Gaines, who included Northwestern in his final six in early August. Texas wing Savion Flagg, who recently released his top eight, and New York wing Jordan Nwora remain priorities for Northwestern as well.
