Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany issues statement on death of Jordan Hankins

Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany issued a statement on Monday on the death of Northwestern student and women’s basketball player Jordan Hankins.

Delany’s statement in full:

“We were deeply saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Northwestern student Jordan Hankins. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, teammates and the entire Northwestern community during this incredibly difficult time.”

The Big Ten has not released any further messages regarding the situation at this time. Other schools from the Big Ten have also offered condolences via social media and other platforms.

Northwestern’s game against Minnesota on Wednesday has been canceled, and the status of Saturday’s home game against Indiana is unclear at this time.
