Background
McIntyre is a speedy outside linebacker who also played some wide receiver in high school whose primary assets are his quickness and coverage ability. He covered wide receivers and running backs in high school and made his presence known through constant activity on defense. His lateral and vertical movement are top-notch.
He’ll need to improve his strength if he wants to be successful at the college level. However, he was helped in high school by playing alongside four-star Class of 2018 linebacker Dallas Gant, and if he can be matched up with another solid all-around linebacker (a la Anthony Walker) in Evanston, that should help his transition.
Outlook
Having dependable coverage linebackers is particularly useful in Northwestern’s defense (Joe Jones comes to mind) and McIntyre could start making headway early on. Northwestern will have some holes at linebacker next year with Jaylen Prater, Walker and Joe Jones all graduating. As Brett Walsh and Nate Hall will be the only returning regulars, McIntyre could find himself utilized by Mike Hankwitz in the near future.
