Justin Jackson, Clayton Thorson, and Tommy Doles all received All-Big Ten Offense honors on Wednesday.
Justin Jackson was named to the Second Team for his fourth-straight time. The senior will end his career with the second-most rushing yards in Big Ten history. The list of his records is endless, but Jackson also had a fine 2017 season, rushing for 1,154 yards and 9 touchdowns. He added 266 receiving yards and plenty of excellent pass-blocking to his tally as well.
Clayton Thorson was named to his first All-Big Ten Third Team. Northwestern rallied back from a slow start behind Thorson’s midseason improvements. His last three games of the season were nearly flawless and he ended the year with the best adjusted QBR of his career.
Tommy Doles was named All-Big Ten for the second year running. Doles has been a key part of Northwestern’s offensive line at right guard. The offensive line’s massive improvement during 2017 was one of the unsung stories of the season, and Doles was rewarded with Third Team All-Big Ten by the coaches and the media.
Superback Garrett Dickerson also received an Honorable Mention from the coaches and the media. Dickerson had a banner year as a receiver in his seniors season after years of effective blocking. He had 37 catches for 401 yards, both career highs.
Including honorable mentions, Northwestern had 12 players named to the All-Big Ten Team this season. Hooray!
