Three-star running back Isaiah Bowser commits to Northwestern

Bowser is the 15th commit of the 2018 class.

Three-star 2018 running back Isaiah Bowser has committed to Northwestern, he announced on Twitter Friday afternoon.

Bowser’s commitment comes just days after he received an offer from the Wildcats on June 20. He had been planning to announce a top 6, but decided to forego that after being offered by Pat Fitzgerald and his staff.

Northwestern was Bowser’s only Power 5 offer, although he had received interest from Notre Dame and West Virginia. The Sidney, OH, native did have plenty of interest from smaller schools, with offers from Cincinnati, Navy, Western Michigan, Air Force, Toledo, and several others.

Bowser played running back and outside linebacker in high school, but projects as a running back at the next level. 247 Sports has him as the 65th-best safety in the class, while Scout ranks him 82nd at the position. He has good size at 6-foot-1, 205 pounds, and tested well physically at Nike’s The Opening regionals in Chicago, including a 4.6 40-yard dash.

You can see that speed and athleticism on display in his junior year tape, which includes highlights from both sides of the ball.

Bowser is the 15th commit of Northwestern’s 2018 class, which is still ranked in the top 25 in the country, for now. He is the first running back of the class.
