Jones — who is from Duncan, South Carolina — was one of Northwestern’s top remaining targets in the 2018 class, and he committed to NU over Ole Miss, Tennessee, Wisconsin, among others. He is listed as a three-star recruit by 247Sports, Scout.com and Rivals, but a four-star recruit by ESPN. Regardless of the rankings, Jones is a big get for the Wildcats.
Northwestern now has 16 recruits in its 2018 class, which already appears to be one of the best in recent memory. According to 247Sports, Jones is the seventh-highest rated recruit in the class. He is also the second inside linebacker in the class.
In the highlight tape below, Jones shows the ability to drive into the backfield, shed blockers and take down ball carriers. That skill set will fit right into Northwestern’s 4-3 scheme.
As of right now, Northwestern’s 2018 class ranks 21st in the country and sixth in the Big Ten, though those numbers will probably drop at some point.
