Sanjay Lumpkin makes New Orleans Pelicans’ NBA Summer League roster

Reggie Hearn also has a Summer League opportunity.

Recently graduated Northwestern basketball player Sanjay Lumpkin has made the New Orleans Pelicans’ Summer League roster, the team announced on Friday.

Here is the full roster:

It should be noted that the Pelicans’ general manager is Dell Demps, the father of Tre Demps. Alex Olah played summer ball for the Pelicans last offseason, although Tre Demps actually played for the Bulls’ Summer League team.

Lumpkin never averaged more than 6.0 points per game in a season at Northwestern, but is an outstanding, versatile defender and a solid rebounder. More than anything, what he brought to the Wildcats was leadership and heart. Lumpkin was a massive contributor to Northwestern’s historic 2016-17 season.

Former Wildcat Reggie Hearn will be playing in the Orlando Summer League with the Sacramento Kings. Hearn, who spent 2009-13 at Northwestern, has been a productive D-League player in recent years but has never broken through to the NBA.

Congrats and good luck, Sanjay and Reggie!
