On Saturday against Wisconsin, Northwestern will feature a traditional road-game look for its first Big Ten contest. The Wildcats will wear their classic purple helmet for the first time this season, along with white jerseys and purple pants.

The Wildcats last wore this uniform combination in a dominant 45-17 victory at Purdue last season, although the same color scheme was worn last season against Michigan State but with the Alternate Purple ‘Cat Head helmet. Before that, the purple-white-purple look was worn against Michigan in 2015 (*shudders*). On a more positive note, this is the combination Northwestern wore on a cold November afternoon in South Bend.
After being a mainstay in Northwestern’s uniform rotation for many years, the purple pants are a real treat in the Under Armour era. They were worn once in 2012, once in 2013, three times in 2014, twice in 2015 and three times in 2016. The traditional purple helmet, which was worn only once last season, will be brought out for the first time in 2017 on Saturday.
