After an ugly performance against Fresno State yesterday, Northwestern (3-1) has a chance to get off the mat against winless La Salle.
The 0-5 Explorers got stomped 85-49 by Miami on Thanksgiving, shooting only 35 percent from the field and turning the ball over 20 times. KenPom projects an 82 percent chance for a Northwestern win this afternoon. The Wildcats beat the Explorers 82-74 last November. Dererk Pardon had 14 points and Vic Law added eight more in that matchup.
Northwestern’s loss to Fresno State means it doesn’t advance to the winner’s side of the bracket to face Miami and presumably another solid opponent.
Here’s a look at the bracket:

With a win, Northwestern would play the winner of Grand Canyon-Utah in the fifth-place game. Larry Krystkowiak’s Utah team has struggled out of the gate this year, but the Wildcats would undoubtedly welcome a matchup with a Pac-12 team.
