Background

Foster committed back in April soon after the opening of Ryan Fieldhouse. The three-star recruit was the second offensive tackle and the eighth-overall commit of the 2019 class.

While Foster spent most of his high school career playing tight end or defensive end, he will be assuming a new role as an offensive lineman at Northwestern. In his junior year highlights, he proved his strength and size at tight end, dragging multiple players along with him after making numerous huge plays downfield. His senior year tape showed he developed into a solid blocker and created opportunities for his teammates, which will serve him well as a member of the offensive line.

Outlook

Northwestern’s offensive line will gladly welcome someone of Foster’s physicality. He has had experience at multiple positions and has proved to be a solid force on the line. While most of the offensive line will be returning next year, the loss of four seniors, including captain Tommy Doles, will largely change their dynamic. With change comes the opportunity for first-years like Foster to step in.
