Azema is the highest ranked defensive back in Northwestern’s class. He was the third player to commit to NU from the greater Houston area had numerous Power Five offers.

Those offers detail just how highly touted Azema is, but his tape displays even more promise. Azema has the ability to fly to the ball while maintaining proper angles on the ball carrier and has impressive hands. See for yourself, below.
Outlook
Azema enters a unit that will be returning plenty of experience, despite the impending loss of Jared McGee. Starter J.R. Pace returns, as does Travis Whillock, who played a large role in the performance of the secondary in the latter half of the 2018 season. Bryce Jackson will also return, and another safety, Brandon Joseph, will join Azema in the class.
He will certainly have a chance to play a role in the secondary in his freshman year, especially due to the recently implemented redshirting rules, but don’t expect him to start ahead of Pace or Whillock in the coming year.
