Justin Jackson entered tonight’s game with just 83 total yards in his NFL career. But Melvin Gordon’s injury last week opened the door, and Jackson burst right through it. The former Northwestern star rushed for 57 yards on just seven carries, and after a couple of nice gains tonight he busted loose for a huge 18 yard touchdown.

The vintage JJTBC run (just look at that cut!) finished off a huge Chargers comeback giving them a fourth quarter lead in a pivotal game in regards to playoff position. Gordon, for his part, was duly impressed:

Jackson may not have gotten a lot of touches thus far in his young NFL career, but the former seventh-round pick’s performances over the last two games are setting him up for success. He finished with 8 carries today for 63 yards and the touchdown along with a 19 yard reception, helping his team beat Pittsburgh in a big game for the second time in his career.
