Pat Fitzgerald may have just put the finishing touch on his 2018 recruiting class. Less than two weeks after offering A.J. Hampton, Northwestern was able to flip the three-star cornerback’s commitment from Toledo, Hampton announced on Twitter on Friday morning.

A 5-foot-11 cornerback, Hampton joins early enrollees Greg Newsome and Jeremiah McDonald as the defensive backs in the 2018 recruiting class. He is the 18th member of the class and the second recruit to commit to Northwestern after the early signing period in December.
Hampton committed to Toledo back in July but didn’t sign in the early period. He held offers from Nebraska, USF, Marshall, Tulane, Colorado State and a host of Ivy League schools.
Northwestern offered Hampton and fellow cornerback DJ Brown in late January and both visited Jan. 26. Hampton will sign with Northwestern on National Signing Day, Feb. 7.
