We are nearing the end for the most important class in the history of Northwestern men’s basketball. Tonight, Bryant McIntosh, Scottie Lindsey and Gavin Skelly will play their final home game in a Northwestern Wildcats (15-14, 6-10 B1G) uniform. Opposing Northwestern will be the Wisconsin Badgers (13-16, 6-10 B1G), a team that Northwestern handled with relative ease in the Kohl Center a few weeks ago.
First things first, hopefully Bryant McIntosh can play. The senior missed the last two games with an arm injury he suffered against Rutgers, and it would be a real shame if his final appearance in a Northwestern uniform was an overtime loss to the Scarlet Knights. We don’t have word on his availability yet, but I just want to see B-Mac in any capacity tonight.
Yes, a game between two teams at 6-10 in Big Ten play is not how any of us wanted this Senior Night to play out, but here we are. Northwestern will be rocking player-designed jerseys for tonight’s game and there will be special commemorative T-shirts for the game as well. There are also semi-significant Big Ten seeding implications in this game for both teams, as Caleb Friedman discussed yesterday.
But without any serious ramifications, this game should really be about giving a good swansong for McIntosh, Lindsey and Gavin Skelly, as well as a graduation present for Vic Law, a redshirt junior. This first Collins recruiting class is the most successful that Northwestern basketball has ever had, and while this season has been difficult, hopefully they can have one great night at Allstate Arena to honor their accomplishments.
Northwestern is projected to win and has actually defended Allstate Arena quite well this season. Wisconsin, however, is coming off a morale-boosting, upset win over Purdue and a comfortable win over Minnesota. The Badgers are definitely the hotter team with Northwestern on an incredibly painful four-game losing streak.
Here’s the advanced stats breakdown for the game.
