How to watch Northwestern vs. Iowa: Preview, TV info, live streaming, gamethread

This is the final regular season game for Northwestern.

Michigan State v Northwestern

Tonight, Northwestern (15-15, 6-11 B1G) will hope to win some consolation after a disappointing Big Ten season as it takes on the Iowa Hawkeyes (12-18, 3-14 B1G) in Iowa City for the first time this season.

Many expected Fran McCaffrey’s Iowa squad to struggle this year, and the Hawkeyes certainly haven’t done much to prove them wrong. Iowa dropped games to Louisiana Lafayette and South Dakota State in non-conference, both of which actually now rate as better teams than Northwestern on KenPom and by anyone who has watched all three (raises hand somberly).

Iowa has won just three conference games this season. Those came against Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota, so not exactly a murderer’s row. Iowa played Michigan State close before blowing a five-point lead in the latter stages (hahahahahahaaaaaa that’s nothing!). The Hawkeyes also only lost by two to Indiana. However, Iowa does not have a win in February. The basketball has been very bad.

As we all know, Northwestern won’t be coming into this one brimming with confidence either. The Wildcats have lost five straight, all in excruciating fashion. The Senior Night loss to Wisconsin on Thursday just piled misery on us. Northwestern has fallen from a preseason top 25 ranking to a lock for the No. 10 seed in the Big Ten Tournament. This game is completely meaningless. Thus, Vic Law probably won’t play after missing the Wisconsin game with a foot injury. Here are some stats:

KenPom

Iowa actually has some really good offensive players like point guard Jordan Bohannon and Tyler Cook. It’s too bad their defense couldn’t stop an infestation of ants. It’s only fitting that the final conference game of this generally bad Big Ten basketball season is Iowa vs. Northwestern in a totally meaningless game in primetime on BTN. Now I can’t even watch the Olympics to distract myself.
