There are eight teams left standing in the NCAA women’s lacrosse tournament, and Northwestern is one of them.
After taking down Richmond in a 42-goal thriller Friday, the Wildcats won another high-scoring affair Sunday against Towson by a score of 21-17.
After setting a tournament record with nine goals Friday, Selena Lasota scored eight goals Sunday. Lasota now is just five goals short of the Tournament record of 22. Sheila Nesselbush also found the back of the net eight times against the Tigers, after scoring six times against Richmond in the opening round.
Towson took a 10-9 lead in the second half, but a 5-0 Northwestern run gave Kelly Amonte Hiller’s team a strong lead.
Here’s what Hiller and Lasota had to say about the game:

With the win, Northwestern advances to the Tournament quarterfinals, where it will face off with North Carolina in a rematch of a March 17 matchup in which the Tar Heels won 18-13. The game will take place in Raleigh, North Carolina at 12:00 p.m. Saturday. UNC is the No. 2 team in the country.
