The seven-team tournament also features Andorra, Gibraltar, Ireland, Moldova, Norway, and the host country, San Marino. The group phase begins June 26— Malta is in a three-team group with Ireland and Andorra. To advance to the bracket stage, Malta will need to finish in the top two.
The tournament’s website only features a roster for Ireland, but the Irish team has a Chicago connection too. UIC’s Jordan Blount, a sophomore who averaged 6.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, is among the players for Ireland.
Falzon shared a photo from Malta with his brother, Tevin, a professional basketball player in England.
