Wide receiver Bryce Kirtz (Brownsburg, IN) announced his commitment to Northwestern on Twitter Sunday, becoming the first wideout in NU’s 2019 recruiting class.

Kirtz, ranked as the No. 62 receiver in the country and the seventh-best player in Indiana by 247Sports, committed to NU over Duke, Notre Dame, Purdue, Michigan State and Indiana, among others. He has game-breaking speed, which he displayed both on the outside as a receiver and in the backfield as a running back, should be an asset for Northwestern.

Notably, Kirtz attended the same Indiana high school as highly-touted quarterback Hunter Johnson, who recently announced his intent to transfer from Clemson. Northwestern has been pegged as a potential favorite in the pursuit of Johnson, and both Kirtz and Johnson would be eligible to play for NU beginning in the 2019 season.

As it currently stands, Kirtz is the highest-rated recruit in Pat Fitzgerald’s 2019 class, according to 247.
