Three-star offensive lineman Zachary Franks (The Gilman School, Baltimore, MD) has flipped from Penn State to Northwestern, he announced Friday on Twitter.
After lots of deep thought and reflection with my closest friends and family I have decided that I will be attending @NUFBFamily because it’s the best fit for me. Excited to have a great senior year before I get to Evanston!! #NULevel19 pic.twitter.com/OGgMAifdVs

It isn’t too often Northwestern flips a player like this, but this is a good get for the Wildcats. Franks has great size at 6-foot-5 and 284 pounds, and he held offers from Penn State, Duke, Nebraska, Vanderbilt, Rutgers and Indiana, among others. He had committed to Penn State August 2, but apparently had a change of heart.
Franks is the 15th commit and the fourth offensive lineman in the 2019 class. 247Sports has Franks rated as the top O-lineman in the class.
Franks isn’t the only DMV offensive lineman on Northwestern’s radar either: Washington, DC area three-star Walter Rouse has included NU in his top 10 in his top 10 schools.
Franks’s highlights are below.
