It came as a shock to many when TJ Green relieved Clayton Thorson on the third drive of Thursday’s opener after Thorson had led two touchdown drives on his first two series. Fitzgerald answered questions on the situation in the postgame press conference, saying that it was the plan all along to play both quarterbacks because of certain medical limitations on Thorson after his offseason surgery to repair a torn ACL.
