Northwestern has released its initial injury report for Saturday’s tilt with Akron. Ben Oxley and Alex Miller will leave Northwestern thin at defensive tackle once again, as both will sit for a second consecutive game. Joining them on the bench will be backup super back Trey Pugh.
For the first time since Clayton Thorson in Week 1, the Wildcats have listed a player as questionable. This time, the status of three offensive linemen is yet to be determined. Unsurprisingly, bookend starting tackles Blake Hance and Rashawn Slater show up in this category, with both leaving the game early against Duke. Joining them, however, will be Tommy Doles, which is a bit out of left field.

Northwestern certainly can’t afford to have three starting offensive linemen sit, even against Akron, so let’s hope at least part of the trio sees the field on Saturday.
