FanPulse Week 5: Big Ten surging

Northwestern’s conference is making waves in the SB Nation community rankings. Wildcat fans’ confidence? Less so.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: SEP 27 Penn State at Maryland

Alabama has usurped Clemson, and Ohio State has entered the top four. For the first time in a month, the SB Nation FanPulse rankings’ top six has been shaken up.

Notably, the Big Ten still has four top 15 teams and six in the top 25, as Penn State and Ohio State inch their way up the list. There are also some head-scratchers in here, though: Cal moved up seven spots after their loss to Arizona State, perhaps due to their placement on the form ballot voters were given.

Also, Wisconsin staying put is of note given how much they struggled with the Wildcats last week. To my mind, the ballots that Northwestern fans within the Inside NU community put together, given below, is much more palatable.

The Buckeyes, who have certainly outplayed Clemson thus far this season, leapfrog them here. The Nittany Lions, certainly a deserving top ten team after their beatdown of Maryland, are put in their rightful spot. Cal is correctly lower, while Michigan State is higher. All in all, we put together a very solid ballot.

Unsurprisingly, the confidence Wildcat fans have in the program didn’t change much. After a somewhat impressive defensive performance, it jumped a whole two percent.
