2020 DE Jaiden Cameron commits to Northwestern

Northwestern > Michigan State

@JaidenCameron1

Jaiden Cameron announced his commitment to Northwestern Tuesday morning. The three-star defensive end from Ohio made his decision just over a month after making an unofficial visit to Evanston in early June.

Cameron recieved offers from Minnesota, Michigan State, and Cincinnati before eventually deciding to commit to Pat Fitzgerald’s team. It eventually came down to Michigan State and Northwestern according to 247sports.com, and we’re guessing that Cameron checked the results of the last three times the Wildcats-Spartans faced off and made his decision accordingly.

The Dayton area native marks the second DE commit of the 2020 recruiting as he joins three-star Sean McLaughlin who committed back in June. Cameron is another huge get for a program and recruiting class that seems to get better nearly every week. He is the program’s second commit of the month alongside OLB Cullen Coleman.

In the next few seasons, Cameron could prove to be part of a stout defensive front that will feature the likes of Earnest Brown, Eku Leota and Devin O’Rourke among others.

Cameron flashed glimpses of potential during the Best of the Midwest Combine in February as he helped improve his rating to a three-star. His highlights display a sharp quickness and length on the perimeter. At around 220 pounds, Cameron still has a ways to go in filling out his frame. Nonetheless, this is a big win for a Northwestern team that has been hoarding defensive talent lately and continues to score recruiting victories over fellow Big Ten heavyweights.

Also shoutout to Cameron’s graphic editor for the awesome photo of him emerging from what appears to be the Chicago River. That’s a dope edit that we’d love to see more of in the future!
