Not all is bad in the world of Northwestern basketball these days!
Vic Law signed a professional contract with Orlando Magic Tuesday night, according to a press release from the organization. The former Northwestern forward’s deal comes after he spent the summer with the Magic despite going unselected in the 2019 NBA Draft.
According to an article from the Orlando Sentinel, Law signed an Exhibit 10 deal, meaning the contract is a one-year agreement and guarantees Law an invitation to Magic training camp. The Exhibit 10 contract also guarantees NBA rookies a bonus for signing with the G League equivalent of their team.
Law still has a ways to go to make the Magic’s 15-man regular season roster, but this is an encouraging first step for the former NU star as he embarks on his professional career. At the very least, he looks set to spend at least one-year making money and developing in the G League before having to make his next career decision.
Stay tuned as Northwestern could soon become the Lakeland Magic’s (Orlando G League affiliate) Big Ten Team.
