Chris Collins and his squad have a tough road ahead of them in a rebuilding year. With Friday morning’s schedule release, though, it looks like their Big Ten slate won’t be as challenging as it could otherwise be for the Wildcats.
The stage is set.

Northwestern draws Purdue, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Michigan State, Penn State, and Nebraska twice across their 20 games of conference play. Though they will be challenged significantly by having to face Purdue and Michigan State during December in the seemingly-annual early pair of conference games, the Wildcats have also been granted some enticing home matchups.
In addition to the six teams mentioned above, NU will host Michigan in a rematch of last year’s classic, along with Iowa and Ohio State.
When paired with the release of the team’s non-conference schedule a month ago, Wildcat fans now know the entire runout of Northwestern basketball’s 2019 season.
Though any sequence complete with a grueling 20 game conference slate is going to be tough, the Wildcats seem to have one of the easier schedules among power conference squads that have released them, which Chris Collins and his rebuilding team certainly won’t complain about.
