After a quarterback battle that spanned the entire offseason, Hunter Johnson was under center for the first drive of 2019. The talented quarterback earned the job over T.J. Green, a redshirt senior with encyclopedic knowledge of the playbook.
The former five-star from Indiana originally committed to Clemson before transferring to Northwestern during the offseason preceding the 2018 season. He served as the scout team quarterback last year as he waited to become eligible with NU, and is now seeing his first live game action since his true freshman season with the Tigers in 2017.
While Johnson is officially the starter, both will play, similar to what the team did last year. But for now, Johnson is QB1.
