Northwestern’s basketball program got a piece of good news on Sunday, as 6-foot-10 center Matt Nicholson announced his decision to join the program on Twitter.

The Clarkston, Michigan native is the first member of Northwestern’s 2020 class. Originally, Joe Bamisile was the premier member of Chris Collins’ next batch of recruits, but the shooting guard recently decommitted and decided to join Virginia Tech.
Nicholson has impressive size, nearing seven feet and 215 pounds, and had an offer from Creighton as well as some smaller programs. In the highlight tape below, you can see he does a solid job of using his length on both sides of the ball. Defensively, Nicholson is able to contest almost every attempt, and on the offensive end he utilizes his size to attack the rim. Take a look for yourself below.
