After holding the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach roles at Northwestern for 12 years, news broke Tuesday morning that Mick McCall is headed to Iowa State to serve as the new running backs coach under Matt Campbell and co.
#IowaState is hiring Mick McCall as running backs coach, ISU coach Matt Campbell confirmed to me. McCall served as Northwestern's offensive coordinator/QBs coach from 2008-2019. McCall and Campbell worked together at Bowling Green for 3 seasons. Football Scoop first reported.

McCall has not specifically coached running backs since his five-year tenure at the helm of the position between 1983 and 1987 at Idaho, but the Colorado State Pueblo graduate has more than 40 years of offensive coaching experience under his belt.
The former Northwestern offensive coordinator, who was replaced in both of his roles in Evanston by former Boston College OC Mike Bajakian, was reportedly hired as part of a coaching shift after Iowa State tight ends coach Alex Golesh became the offensive coordinator at UCF.
McCall and Campbell worked together for three years at Bowling Green, where the former was the offensive coordinator and the latter a graduate assistant and then offensive line coach. The Cyclones are coming off of three consecutive bowl appearances and a 7-6 record in 2019.
