In its final regular-season game, Northwestern will sport its rarest attire. The team announced Friday via Twitter that it would take on rival Illinois in its beloved gothic uniforms.

The uniforms, which are inspired by the gothic architecture and signage of NU’s Evanston campus, are a favorite among many fans and players alike. That said, as noted by The Daily Northwestern’s Ella Brockway, the Wildcats have only sported the Gothics three times before, most recently in their blowout loss to Ohio State last year.
Happy Friday! It's officially Gothic SZN.

Only the fourth time we've ever seen the Football Gothics in action. Win over Minnesota in 2015, losses to Nebraska in 2014 and Ohio State in 2019. https://t.co/yI1jz3cdOY
Regardless, after a week off due to the cancelation of their contest with Minnesota, the ‘Cats are rested, ready to take on their rivals and look good doing so. The battle for the Land of Lincoln Trophy kicks off at 11:00 a.m. CT on Saturday and will be televised on ESPN2.
