Big Ten cancels remainder of conference tournament amid health concerns

Northwestern still lost.

That’ll do it from Indy.

The Big Ten announced early Thursday that it will be shutting down its conference tournament as fears surrounding the Coronavirus continue to grow. The announcement came just before the second rounds of games was set to tipoff at 11:00 central time.

The decision is far from surprising with nearly all conferences having shut down their tournaments by now except for the Big East. The NBA also announced its suspension of its season last night after Utah Jazz player tested positive for the virus.

The conference is yet to announce details for naming a champion or making up the tournament at a different time.

For now, March Madness is still scheduled to take place with limited fan attendance, but it seems naive to think that a cancellation or postponement isn’t coming there shortly.
